The Evolution of Outdoor Advertising

Resources like the traditional billboards, tarpaulins, posters, bulletins and the likes have long been part of what is now commonly called as the outdoor advertising. This has been one of the most common ways used to advertise and promote products and services to the public consumers who do not spend most of their time at home. Now, with the progression of time and the emergence of different modern ideas, outdoor advertising was also modernized and was made to keep up with the evolution of mankind. Now, more resources can be used and high technology has a big part in its advancement.

A very good example of the modernization of out-of-home advertising is the use of mobile projection. With this campaign, a projector, carried by a vehicle that is specifically designed for campaigning, casts projected images of the product or service that is being endorsed by the advertiser. This kind of resource is best used at night because the light that comes from the projection is every good to look at especially when it becomes one with the different night lights of the city. The vehicle can remain to be stationary or it can move slowly with the crowd as they move around the streets; either way, this very innovative material is very effective because of its eye-catching qualities.

The buses, cabs and other vehicles which are wrapped with advertisements are another one of the hottest advertisings used in this day and age. These vehicles are creatively painted to clearly show the product or service that advertisers would like to sell to the market. The artistic way of painting the ad and the way that the vehicle roams around the area can really attract the attention of potential consumers.

Finally, there is also the simple yet imaginative idea of using bicycles to create a station that can promote any business product or service. With this idea, bicycles are used as a base where a poster, almost 4 feet in height, attaches; this set up is what is called as the triangular bicycle station. With this kind of campaign, a representative of the company making the advertisement can be appointed to man the station and give away additional flyers to people who are passing by the station. And since the station makes use of a bicycle, obviously the station can be moved from one place to another considering the places where there are a lot of potential buyers.

These very new and very creative ways of promotion and endorsement are just some of the few that have transpired in the last couple of years. Now, outdoor advertising has played with different ideas on how to help businesses be more noticeable and more appealing to their target market, and all these can be reached with the use of high tech pieces of gadgets on one hand and a lot of creative juices on the other hand. It may seem that the modern-day advertising has been a departure from the conventional billboards that people were used to seeing, but in reality It still bears the same concept – to show the public what a business can do, and eventually convince them to try their products and business in the end. The billboards and the posters will always be part of outdoor advertising, but there is now a space allotted for fresher and newer ideas.
