Buy now media is an advertising style which basically includes the phrase “buy now” together with the product description and usually has a lower price compared to similar products in the market. This is considered a media because it reaches to the attention of a potential customer and attracts more than the ordinary product description and price tag.
Buy now media works by creating in the mind of a shopper that a certain product is offered at its best price. The shopper need not to go around to the whole store to find similar product because the product tagged as “buy now” accompanied with usually a lower price seems to be the buy in the eyes of the shopper. That’s actually how any kind of media works: to send a message to an audience with a certain purpose. The purpose of buy now media is to convince the potential buyer to stop looking for other products, because the best deal is already in front of them.
This advertising style works best in department stores and groceries where there is space for special offers and buy now media can easily find its place here. It is also important to place your buy now media ahead of other products. It may be placed near the entrance of a store, cashier or in the front shelf.
Buy now media is also used to sell old stocks in lower prices. Since every product in the market depreciate in value through time, its price decreases as well. By using buy now media, older stocks can still be sold even new models or new stocks are already available in the market. It also sends a message to the shopper that the item marked with “buy now” has only limited stocks and supply may run out anytime. Media is indeed an effective marketing tool.
However, buy now media must not be misused. Traders and businessmen must not use buy now media just to dispose of defective products or products which are already expired. This will destroy the positive effect of buy now media and the buying public might think that every product using buy now media is substandard or below quality standards. If buyers experience that items sold by using buy now media do not meet their needs or do not satisfy them, they might not buy at all any product advertising using buy now media. In effect, it will affect other products that are using this advertising technique properly. Bigger problems will rise when confusion is created in the minds of the buying public.
As any other advertising technique, buy now media must only be used within arms length in order to protect other products, the advertising industry and the buying public. People must also make sure that products sold using buy now media have good quality in order to avoid further post-sales problems.
