Tips for How and When to Buy Radio Space

Projecting the benefits of your products and services of your company can only be done with the use of advertising.  Without advertising, consumers will not know about your great company.  Therefore, it is important that you choose wisely when it comes to marketing mediums.  One way to make use of marketing mediums that will not hurt your budget is to buy radio space.  Those who have already made the step to buy radio space have seen how affordable and effective it is for their company.   
Where to Buy 
This is one of the most common questions that companies have when it comes to taking that first step.  There are so many radio stations out there that it can be difficult to know where to buy radio space that will benefit your company.  One thing is true is that radio stations have a targeted audience just like you do for your product or service.  This fact will make it much more simple in the choosing process.  Most stations will be eager to provide you with a copy of their ratings and the overall demographics of their audience.  If a station is hesitant to provide this information, or if the report is out of date, then you should avoid this radio station. 
 
It is also possible to find radio stations that will allow you to have a “test run” of your ad campaign before you decide to buy radio space from them.  This means that they will run your advertisements for a particular amount of time at different intervals of the day so that you can see how well your advertisement reached the station’s audience.  Some stations will require that you give them a percentage of the commission earned during the test run, while others will provide this as a complimentary service in order to reach more advertisers.   

How to Buy

You can also decide if you want your advertisement to be heard in the AM hours, afternoon time slots, or the PM hours.  This all depends on the type of product that you are selling and the audience type that you are trying to target.  If you are targeting a younger audience, then anytime after 4PM is the best choice.  Adults are more likely to be more alert in the early morning hours while driving to work, as opposed to the trip home in the evenings.  This is because they are usually more exhausted in the late evening hours and will be less susceptible to listening to your ads.
