The Benefits of Outdoor Advertising

Another benefit of outdoor advertising is the fact that it is not as expensive as other marketing mediums.  Outdoor advertising is priced as CPM, or cost per thousand.  CPM is the cost that is needed to reach 1,000 potential consumers through an outdoor display.  You can find the CPM of a billboard or poster by dividing the monthly costs by the monthly circulation in thousands.   

If you contact the billboard or poster company that rents the advertisement space, they can tell you what the monthly circulation is for the billboard.  Circulation is another term for the number of people who will see the billboard or poster each month.  Try to find a billboard location in a valuable area of the highway.  Typically, viewers will pay attention to billboards that are close to an exit ramp.  This is because they will be looking to see if it is the exit that they need to take.  

You should also place your outdoor advertising billboard in an area that is surrounded by other billboards, but not so many that would overtake your own advertisement.  If you are able to find a good spot for a billboard at an affordable cost, all you can do is try and see if it is beneficial.  Make sure that your outdoor advertising poster is short in text, typically less than eight words.  Also, your graphics should be prominent enough that they do all of the work for you.
